Kristen Shealy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 20 years of experience dedicated to providing mental health treatments to children (ages 6+), teens, and adults. Her focus includes exposure to trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. Sessions are provided using HIPAA-compliant live videoconferencing to safeguard confidentiality. Therapy may be held in English or Spanish, depending on patient preference, to ensure a comfortable and inclusive experience for all clients.

About Kristen

Kristen completed her B.A. in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Master of Education (EdM) in Risk and Prevention, and Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from Harvard University. Kristen has taught undergraduate and graduate-level psychology courses, and published in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented at state, national, and international conferences, and served as an ad hoc reviewer for psychology journals.

Kristen’s approach integrates techniques from cognitive and behavioral therapies (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and supportive counseling. As a nationally certified therapist in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), she offers evidence-supported treatments, including Prolonged Exposure for PTSD (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Behavioral Activation for depression, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Traumatic Grief Therapy, Risk Reduction through Family Therapy (RRFT), and treatment for Complicated Grief.
